Dr James Panton

Research associate in numerical weather prediction, previously in geodynamics. In my current position I am providing modelling infrastructure other software support to various projects in the Institute for Geophysics and Meteorology at the University of Cologne, whilst also learning about arctic meteorology.

About me

I am a postdoc working in the Institute for Geophysics and Meteorology at the University of Cologne. In my current role I run numerical weather predicition (NWP) simulations, specifically for field campaigns related to the AC3 project. I am also providing training and software support for NWP using ICON, developing pre and post processing tools and working on devleopments related to the Warmworld project. I completed my PhD at Cardiff University in 2021 then worked as a postdoc on the NERC Large Grant, Mantle Convection Constrained (MC2).
